Hello, I recently found this old desk and I was wondering if anyone could give me some information about it. I randomly found it near a dumpster and thought it might be a cool piece to try and restore. So any information such as what exactly it is, where I should look for parts, etc would be very helpful.

Not a desk. It's a sewing-machine cabinet, with the machine taken out.

Given the lack of a treadle-base, it's not that old. It would've come with an electric sewing machine which would've had an external lead, and foot-pedal at the bottom.

I'd say sometime between the 1950s-1980s.

I used one as a desk for years.I could see this one being handy, its a good size. Id paint it myself, and I normally wouldn't say that. Itd be so much easier (and cheaper) than refinishing . Id have took it home too. :)

If you wanted to use it as a desk (and such things have happened) then all you'd need to do is cut a new desktop and base and maybe some swing-out supports for the side-leaves.

The old SINGER treadle-bases are often converted into desks or side-tables, because those cast iron frames are so damn strong they'll last forever. And if they can hold a 30-pound sewing machine, they sure as heck can hold whatever else you'd wanna put on it. Computer, typewriter, desk, vase of flowers, whatever...
