Hi team! Can anybody help me with this silver mark? I assume it to be a small German tea caddy. But am not 100% sure if it is sterling. I can't seem to find anything about the hallmark.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! IMG_1406.JPG IMG_1408.JPG

German silver is often 800 rather than 925. My first thought was Hanau, but seems too conservative in design & number of marks. One of our silver people will come along with better info, once they're awake. :)

Yes, it is Hanau. Gebrüder Glaser (Glaser Brothers), 1883-1914.
Hanau is a famous silver manufacturing town, known for the production of historic styles, sometimes with fake marks. This one is a legit historic inspired item.;)

The silver fineness is likely to be either .800 or .835. Sterling is .925, so a higher silver content.
So it is silver, just not sterling.
Some countries don't recognize .800 or .835 as real silver, so that is something to bear in mind. Ironically, some of those countries recognize .375 gold as real gold.
