We are cleaning out shelves in the basement and ran across this elephant bookend that we have had for at least 20 years. It is quite heavy, 2 # 10 oz. and is a copy of Rookwood's elephant bookend designed by McDonald. I think I always thought I would find a second one so I would have a set but I haven't. As you can see, I have not cleaned it up either. The bottom is really strange, almost as if it is glued on but I don't see any seams.
Any ideas are welcome. I am getting together a box of things for my granddaughter to use in her new apartment and as soon as I get the paint spots off this guy it will go into the box. But, I would love to know who made it. It has some age on it. The Rookwood elephant dates from 1919. This guy is the same measurements as the original.
