I loooove malachite. I don't have a piece of it yet, but it's on my list. I don't wear green of that shade so I'm holding out for a really stunning example. These beads are so pretty though. A great texture.

My GOD Bronwen that is ridiculously beautiful. These pieces are so expensive and don't seem to come up as often, but I keep an eye out!

I think I was very lucky to cross paths with it. Really nice pieces seem to be becoming scarce, at any price.

KSW, a beautiful necklace! I have one of similar design but with huge banded agate in the middle. Although not sage in dating, I think the period they were in fashion is around 1970s-1980s.

Bronwen, the malachite cameo is so exquisitely carved! Like it a lot.

Y'all keep talking about the good ol days where amazing cameos were everywhere and cheap and I'm supremely jealous. I finally get some money and the universe says "nope you're poor" still. :hilarious:

I have always related malachite to the Russian folk tale "The Stone Flower". I was a kid when I read it, the book was lavishly illustrated and it made a huge impression on me. The tale is about Ural stonemasters who make stuff from malachite. I did not know what malachite was at the time, and there was no Internet to check :) The tale taught me.
So my experience with this stone is quite personal. But haven't had the chance to have malachite jewelry so far.

And when I first began to take a serious interest in cameos I would encounter sellers who were nostalgic for the good old days when they could pick up good cameos cheaply. Those must have been some very good good old days!
