Not finding a match for the name. Painting is pretty well done and looks like it may have been relined based on how white the back is. Frame could have more value than the painting.

I considered that it might be 'Henriette' Glorie, but did not advance the search any.

For my part as painter thats look horrible a frame is moore valued as painting.. :)
Is bad idea think if frame is valued then painting must be valued too?

The publication where INH found the advertisement for Ph. Cerisier is from 1905, so that gives a little idea of time period. The absence of a telephone number on the label is another clue.

It is a very bad assumption. My specialty is cameos, which are like little works of art. It is quite common to find excellent work in cheap settings; not uncommon to find less than average cameos in high quality gold. I have no doubt the same thing happens with paintings.

    Hi,
I have switched paintings and frames all of the time. It is really hard to be certain that a frame goes with the painting. I still have a matching pair of gilt frames from England circa 1850 that are waiting for their paintings or photographs. I bought them in 1968 and they are still empty.

The second one is 1940s-ish. Value would be effected by fact it appears to be a quite personal memorial to a love one who has died.
