Not finding a match for the name. Painting is pretty well done and looks like it may have been relined based on how white the back is. Frame could have more value than the painting.
I have no idea if this could be the same artist as I can't see the sig but they say H. Glorie. Sold for $100 in 2016 https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/43949939_glorie-h
For my part as painter thats look horrible a frame is moore valued as painting.. Is bad idea think if frame is valued then painting must be valued too?
https://books.google.com/books?id=T...AA#v=onepage&q=ph. cerisier bruxelles&f=false Not really helpful, but I found this.
The ticket back is from bruxelles..its a shop who was doing frame but dont know era..its like it was closed before the web..
The publication where INH found the advertisement for Ph. Cerisier is from 1905, so that gives a little idea of time period. The absence of a telephone number on the label is another clue.
It is a very bad assumption. My specialty is cameos, which are like little works of art. It is quite common to find excellent work in cheap settings; not uncommon to find less than average cameos in high quality gold. I have no doubt the same thing happens with paintings.
Normaly his painting come from "papy" grand father (flemish) It have another painting from this person but that not helping me for find but maybe that help you for who and period..another unknow..and hard reading sign?
The second is moore recent and frame is not like the first..maybe not interresting to try join these 2 paintings
Hi, I have switched paintings and frames all of the time. It is really hard to be certain that a frame goes with the painting. I still have a matching pair of gilt frames from England circa 1850 that are waiting for their paintings or photographs. I bought them in 1968 and they are still empty. greg
The second one is 1940s-ish. Value would be effected by fact it appears to be a quite personal memorial to a love one who has died. Debora
