    Good afternoon,
I came across some 1847 Rogers Bros Inlaid Silver "First Love" flatware . However, some of the flatware does not say "First Love". All pieces have the same pattern - just not the same notation.

Some of the flatware has vary degrees of tarnish. What is the best way to remove that tarnish? Do DIY methods work, or is silver polish the best method?

    Thanks,
    Brook16

Silver polish for sure. Those "DIY" methods are often not good for the finish.

Thanks Bakersgma...do you have a brand you would recommend?

Wright's is good. It "foams" so it's easy to work with. Any of the pink creams should do well.

On the subject of the markings and lack thereof. Can you attached a picture of each variant of the marks? I do not believe that I have ever heard of or seen any 1847 Rogers that includes the word "Inlaid."

I've attached pics of the stamp and pattern. They both say "IS"- "First Love" is missing from one. IMG_7132.JPG IMG_7133.JPG

IS stands for International Silver, not "inlaid silver."

Since this pattern was active from 1937 - 1973, it's most likely that at some point the pattern name was not included on the handle. That one without the name seems to be less "sharp" than the other and may be of the later years.

    Apologies for that...
