Antique leather Hutch 18 football helmet. Air holes throughout, is this a special style?

    Totally out of my wheelhouse, but could see it had some age. Thinking vintage for sure, possibly antique.

    Was easy to search Hutch 18, but other ones I saw did not have air (?) holes through-out or elastic, or a brim. Would this be for a certain position on the football field?
