I listed this little notepad today; it features a picture of the area my folks grew up in. It was in my grandmother's telephone table for ages.

Anyone have a telephone table growing up? My grandparents' sat in this little nook in the hallway that seemed to be made just for the table.

The table pictured below is similar to theirs though theirs had a vinyl seat.

Great Granny memory.I think a 'Blast From the Past' thread would be nice-personal & not always valuable memory pieces.

My grandparents little telephone table and chair is in my bedroom. It's my daily "clothes rack" with some bric-a-brac on the table! :D

In the New York area those made a comeback for a while. Worked well in postage stamp apartments. My grandparents never had one.

My Nana had a telephone table/chair in her house.
It was more plain, with straight legs, and no carving.
More MCM, I'd guess, with a vinyl seat.
    Good memories!

Until several years ago, my children and I lived in my (deceased) grandparent's house. When we finally got rid of the table (and the rotary phone that was still sitting on it, attached to the wall), it had become not much more than a dusty catch all for coats etc.

Do you recall the decade of the comeback out of curiousity? We talking the 80's or 90's or even more recent?

Oh, now that you mention it, my grandparents' one was straight legs as well. They were absolutely minimalistic in their outlook on furnishings, clothes, etc.

    Kids today have no clue....

9-year-old accidentally describes a landline, and millennials are weeping (intheknow.com)

“She was like, ‘They need to come up with like a phone that’s for the whole family that stays in the house, so if you need any person in the house, you can call that phone,'” Rae relayed. “Like, it’s not just that one person’s number — it’s like the whole family.”

Not missing a beat, Rae told the little girl that that was “an amazing idea.”

“But do you know how we’re always like losing the remote and stuff?” she asked. “For this phone, let’s attach it to a cord, maybe like stick it on the wall, so that if there’s an emergency, we can always find it. It can’t leave the house, and it’s for the whole family.”

These are the same kids whose parents think manual typewriters are really cool and OLD. So, no surprises really.

Ugh, I can't imagine thinking manual typewriters are cool - sticking keys and ribbons that run dry. I prefer my keyboard please...lol.

This is one I'd have on My desk- TYPE.jpg The 1870 Malling Hansen Skrivekugle (writing ball) typewriter. This was the very first production typewriter in the world.
PS-I'd still use my keyboard for correspondence though.
