Help with age and type of a large Japanese doll

    I don't know what came over me. She is 27" tall including the base.
    Cloth covered hands and face. Has some wear and tear, some fading.
    And some dirt.

    Wow 27"- she's massive!
    I think your doll with the fabric hands and face is from the 1950s-70s. These dolls were made for tourists and servicemen, as souvenirs. I love her shoes. To keep her kimono from dragging in the mud!
    Her kimono is padded, for wear in cold weather.
    It looks like her kimono was hot pink, but now is quite faded. Fading is a common problem with these dolls.
    She has a hagoita paddle, which is for a game where a shuttlecock is batted between players.

    She needs a little adjustment of her kimono around the neck, 'cause she's 50 years old afterall!
    Other than that, she is in good shape!

    Her Kimono is layered, there is white under the pink and red underneath the white. No skimping on the material.
