I recently got this pewter lamp, which stands about 9.5 inches tall, but have some questions about it:

    1) Am I correct in calling it a chamber lamp?
    2) Note that the wick channel is not fully enclosed, and is at an angle to the font rather than fully enclosed and straight up; is it therefore a fat or grease lamp rather than whale oil?
    3) The handle has a touchmark, somewhat faint, which appears to be a rampant lion facing right, above which are initials I think are JFH (possibly JFII). Does this give any clue as to its origin or maker?
    4) Date, 19th century or possibly earlier?
