Hi everyone, totally new to this forum, any replies would be greatly appreciated.
Recently I got given by my grandparents an unopened bottle of Bol's Ballerina gifted to my great grandfather in 1963. This is the silver liqueur version, but however, it appears that there is no record anywhere of a silver version made, I can't find any trace of it on the web, ebay etc. According to collectorsweekly.com there was either 500ml Apricot Brandy, Gold Liqueur, Triple Sec, or Creme de Menthe. Apparently all versions made played blue danube, I'm not sure what mine plays but it certainly isn't blue danube. Anyone know anything about this, I absolutely love this bottle and would like to know more about it.

Pretty bottle! I searched and searched but like you couldn't find anything referring to a silver version... hopefully someone will be able to help soon :)

    HI, Appley. Welcome.

I tried a Bing search for Bol's Ballerina silver liqueur and thought I had scored with hundreds of images. But then noticed that the search was for Bols + liqueur + silver. So not good.

When I've been stymied like that I've tried the company itself, usually with good results.
    Maybe start with a distributor.

If no satisfaction there go straight to Amsterdam.

    Best of luck to you.

I haven't read the other links, so maybe this was already mentioned, but I did find this (and am still looking) . . .
    Could be nothing.

"A Dutch-only cinnamon schnapps, similar to Goldschläger. A less alcoholic version with silver flakes called Silverstrike also exists."

Isn't ten pounds a bit much for one OMLOPP?

Plus you'd need to screw into a joist to support it.

Messilane, he is looking for a link, or info on, that particular bottle he pictured. He's correct in saying it is clearly labeled "Bols Silver Liqueur" on the bottle with the red ballerina inside BUT, according to Google and other search engines there is no such thing as a "Bols Silver Liqueur"
    That's an odd occurrence.

All I can say is I enjoyed emptying a couple of these in the 60s. I wasn't worried about the bottle then.

Thank you everyone for your replies! I wasn't expecting such help. It is strange isn't it! I never thought about emailing the company, in fact i'm going to do it right now and report back for anyone's interest now and in the future. :)

    Yo people,
Okay so I received an email back from Bols, apparently there was a much lesser quantity of the silver liqueur bottles produced in accordance to the others, but they couldn't tell me why or how many. As for the music that it plays, they weren't very helpful other than they weren't sure why mine didn't play Blue Danube and that they are not aware that any of them played music other than this tune. Strange huh?

The following site says the bottles played either the "Blue Danube" or the "Skater's Waltz."

"For each different liqueur, the colour of the ballerina’s dress could vary from red to white and the music played can either be the Skater’s Waltz or the Blue Danube."

    https://www.justcollecting.com/miscellania/bols-ballerina-bottles

Could yours be playing the "Skater's Waltz?" If you don't know it, here it is on youtube. Does have a long advertisement in the beginning.
