I have tried variations on the sig with no luck. It appears to be a Los Angeles California dinnerware maker. Appreciate all ideas.
As usual, don't know if I can get the pics to show.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!! That has personality. I like it. Not sure I would finish my soup knowing what's waiting for me, though.
Pics came out great. Is it soup bowl size?
Sig is hard to decipher. Reminds me how I scribble my own name when I'm not happy with the person requesting/requiring it.
I want to say R Spear but the last letter tells me no to the whole thing.

Thanks for giving it a shot. Yes, it is soup bowl size. I think it is pretty cool.

R is written as I write it.
Just a wild guess: what if what looks like last two letters is one letter - small "d"!?

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

Alright, OG... pero la vida no es justa...
If you white guys don't stop speaking better Spanish than I do, I'll... I'll.. I'll... I'm thinking.

And I still can't really see anything BUT R or N and then Spear.

I, too, see "R. Spear" and when I searched a bit I found THIS, which may be your artist's signature.

Tried the small "d" with no luck. Gila, I agree that looks like R, P, or N Spea but not sure about the last letter.

HERE (top of page 47) is a small reference to Spear, by a woman to whom she was apprenticed.

Sounds wonderful (from a 1990 article about an art gallery): "Parading along the rim of fetish bowls by Los Angeles artist Robin Spear were animal forms with symbolic offerings tied to their backs, as in certain American Indian cultures; in this modern-day case, however, the objects borne included miniature telephones, champagne bottles, Wall Street Journals, and servings of bagels and cream cheese."

Morgen, I really appreciate all your efforts. I did find four cups on Worthpoint but I am not a member so don't know what they sold for. Another article did list a cup at $38.00.
