My travel loving lady found us a room in a courtyard within a few yards of the Pope's palace in Avignon-it looks quiet ? We shall see.
Also booked a tour thru one of the last cave-painting sites open to the public (ie: not a replica).
She studies travel itineraries/locations with the same dedication our members study NA baskets, ethnographic artifacts or jewelry.
PS-We'd prob both be working for Rick Steeves if we were 40 years younger !

AJ-Normally we visit in 'shoulder' (not peak) season. This time we have to visit during Summer tourist peak.
My beloved cousin & wife's best friend teaches school and only gets Summers off. She's also never been to Paris-it should be fun, crowded, hot & sweaty !
Early morning departures will be de rigueur.I'd start our walks at 4 in the morning if anything was open.
L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is a must do/see place on our list.
PS-We just watched a fun move set in the Luberon-'A Good Year' w/ Albert Finney & Russel Crowe.

I remember that one, nice. I always watch movies set in Provence, love it.

I just read about Luberon in a book of mine I think, lovely place.

A movie with Provence and Russel Crowe? What's not to love! I'll have to look it up.

Plus you get to see Albert Finney as a happy drunk,as opposed to Albert Finney (a not so happy drunk) in 'Under the Volcano'.

I often leave the loupe in my pocket, reserving it for reading names on obviously costume pieces. I find the hallmarks with a fingernail and generally just have my glasses pulled down so I can just use my eyeballs. Being nearsighted has its advantages. I've been skunked before, brought home vermeil earrings I'd hoped were gold, but generally not.

Finding the hallmarks w/ yr fingernails is a nice technique & prob powerful readers frm the Dollar Store would help a lot.My closeup eyeballs are shot now, that's life. Thanks for the tips Evely.
