We are in the process of purging a family member's antiques. This piece is one that I am in love with and would love some help identifying it.

Is it small? If it is it could be an open salt and there is a very active Open Salt Collectors Facebook page that would be happy to identify it and probably give you value and possibly a buyer. They buy and sell on their site.

    Measurements would be very helpful.

Looks to me like an late 1800s frame, possibly silverplated, meant to hold a serving piece and likely had tongs hanging at the top. I take it there are no markings at all on the metal parts? The glass bowl may not have been original but appears to fit nicely. What country was this found in?

    Measurements please.

Also, if you polish the metal, you may just find marks :)

Both are female and 53, so I think Bronco is Michelle.

Size of the item would be nice, so we can get an idea.

I saw that too, but a member cannot have two IDs from the same IP address, so one may need to go. Mods may notice.

Looks very much like uranium glass to me. Michelle/Bronco, if you hang out here for any time, you will learn that we love finding what a UV flashlight can reveal. Suspect your piece would glow.

Yes, size is important. Maybe a sugar bowl missing hanging tongs.

Looking forward to hear about size, I'm thinking possibly a sugar bowl.
I, too, wonder about whether the current green glass is original to the frame. The glass inserts were generally well-fitted to the frame (and often cobalt blue). The metal side pieces on this frame look like they were possibly meant to support a straight-sided glass bowl.
    Beautiful, nonetheless!
