2 Miniature Baskets: NA Tribal, Asian, African, or?

If I knew for sure, they would be posted in the Tribal forum.
The squat one is ~1 5/8" high, ~2 1/4" lid OD, ~1 1/8" base diameter; the taller is ~2" high, ~1 7/8" lid OD, ~1 1/4 base diameter. The pair weigh ~1.1 oz. The old half-dollar is ~1 3/16" diameter, by comparison.
There are remnants of a red coloration where light hasn't gotten to the tightly woven material; it can barely be seen deep in a few places on the exterior.
I don't recall when or where I acquired them, but they came to me together. I'll be most grateful for your wisdom an' comments about these sweet little pieces of basket artistry, as I have nary a clue. As always, thanks for lookin'!

They look like work from Lombok, Indonesia.

Yes, and made by the native Sasaks. Different from those with the woodcarvings, which are mostly made by the Balinese community on Lombok.

They are very small though. And sweet.

 

Can you direct us to pictorial examples of 'gold standard' work?

I think the painted basket is Balinese, or at least Lombok Balinese. It looks like painting from Kamasan, in Bali.

The gorgeous turtle basket is Lombok Balinese.

 

I though it may be a crossover...

 

Could be, some Sasak knives also show some Balinese influence. But this is more than some influence, this is Kamasan painting imo.
