Jivvy the research is my favorite

So... as best I can reckon, Carl was being a smartass about someone's supposed importance?

Following the lead of the show, sounds like we need a politician or potentate.

You really do have to wonder what the intention of the presentation was. Maybe someone named Dideldum.

I'm not getting any audio, even after I accepted their cookies. Did check & neither PC nor video on mute.

it has so many layers of meaning. Loriot was from noble family and really rubbed it in to the Germans. the feelingless and pure technical understanding of the topic; the "Professor" being always right; and of course the certificate - without a piece of paper you're a nobody etc.

the yodeling certificate reminds me of the Cambridge ones - useless; just imagine you go to the local pub in Yorkshire and try to speak to the locals following the proper rules. they probably look at you as if you had the crazy cow disease.

I think we're looking for someone from the theatrical world who would have understood the reference & been open to this Friars Roast of a plaque.

Assuming this is in response to my musing about why a photo would be there. Expect you're right. Even so, raises possibility he hung out with a theatrical crowd.

I have a glass paste portrait cameo of a woman whose first husband was the last peer to be hanged (for murder) in England. Her second marriage was to a minor politician/county magnate type who commissioned the cameo after her death in a house fire. For some reason, there is another one like it in the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich. I found no naval connection in her bio or bios of her husbands.
