    G'day fellow Antiquers!
Very much hoping that someone will be able to identify this item, or at least point me in the right direction to further research.
I figured out the emblem is "engineer corps", but have not been able to determine which country's airforce. Nor an approximate date. It has been in my family since the 1930s.
It appears to be made of iron (or really heavy earthenware...not going to drop it to find out, and has a good "ping" when you flick/tap it with fingernails). Approximate dimensions are 130mm x 130mm x 20mm, and weighs just over 600g. The glaze is a jade colour and thin in places. There are no maker's marks.
Happy to provide further info (if I can) and other pix.
Thanks in anticipation and over to you... :)

That makes sense, the ashtray itself is an Art Deco design. I can't help with the Air Force emblem though.

I see cast-iron, with little doubt.

Thanks so much everyone! Especially say_it_slowly: am waiting on a reply from the Swedish Air Force Museum to ascertain if the insignia is theirs. Closest I've come to identification. My father-in-law is career Australian Air Force and even he wasn't sure. So fingers crossed! :)

Thanks everyone. The fab people at the Swedish Air Force Museum have confirmed that the insignia is theirs; circa 1926 when that branch of their military was originally formed. Pleased that the mystery has been solved. :) I'll probably be back here at some stage with more queries about things I find in old dusty boxes!
