Some Arabia porcelain, a Riihimaki glass vase and such. This spoon was in with these things so I'm assuming it is Finnish or from another Scandinavian country.

I've not had much experience taking photos of hallmarks so this is a trial at that. I have other pieces I'd like to run past everyone here but figure I'll start with just one.

This spoon is 6" long and the bowl is 1 3/8" wide and brassy gold-tone. I'll appreciate any information about the spoon and pointers to help with my photos. I don't usually end up in the metals threads, my stuff is mostly PGP. Thanks for any and all help.

Thanks, Mikey. I can't read any of the hallmarks though. It is rather elegant, isn't it?

Those marks on the back of the spoon almost look like someone wanted to obliterate them, at least to me!! I think I made them a bit clearer, but that doesn't mean they're readable!!!! Posting both images..... first one cleared up best I could, then 2nd image added the contrasting to see if anyone can make anything of them....Other than the lettering, I think the pink one with the funny tail and an eye is some sort of an animal with the outline of a bucking horse inside and some numbers below it but still in the pink. The top Blue & Aqua are unreadable (to ME!) words! And the Green...NO idea what's in the sideways shield, but after looks like starts with a D and something else in with it, and can't decipher the rest........It's a very pretty spoon though!!!!

Can you flip those images, Aqui? I think they are upside down,

    I'm thinking British silverplate.

@Bakersgma.....I found a new filter to play with.....NOT new, I just never use it!!! See if this does anything for you.......an 'A' visible on the left now, and in the crest on the right...I think you might make out some in that now....!!

@Bakersgma and @Aquitaine that's quite a difference! Thanks so much! I'm hoping to find a direction to go to search, got my fingers crossed.

Here I am again. I have 2 of these spoons which are identical with the exception of the hallmarks! New pic @Bakersgma @Aquitaine . Hopefully this one is legible. I resized it and it won't let me post it directly just add an attachment.

This one does look like Finland. The Q4 date code makes it 1897.

That's a pretty darn clear image, @lvetterli you posted!! Don't know why it wouldn't let you post it!! First mark looks like JOM, then not sure 813 or 313, but the first number is thicker, so thinking 813...what's next looks like a right facing 'jester' with a 'fez' on (and maybe it's just a (.), then H....the rest is clear ....a crown, and then been identified by @Bakersgma, and I have no clue on the last mark!!

Thanks! Wondering if it's silverplate and what the goldish bowl is, a brass coating or? 1897! Wow, had no clue it could be that old! I'll be posting others in a separate thread now that I've found the camera on my phone can do nice closeups.

This one is solid silver of a low fineness - 0813. The goldish bowl is gilding over the silver.

Wow! Never dreamed it was more than plated. Thank you so very much! Now I need to get pics of the others pieces to ID. But I can do some looking on my own first!
