Found this beautiful bracelet for $4.00 and really want to wear it. However I noticed the clasp was failing and it basically fell apart as pictured. I took it to two jewelers, both said they could use gold solder to put it back together for $50 but no gurantees to how long it will last. The other option was to recreate the clasp but it will cost $250... Do you all think the gold solder would be a good option?

The bracelet also looks to be from the 1960s? Or 1970s? Also being a guy does this look too feminine at all, as I would be fixing it to wear it?

Very handsome. And I see no reason why a man couldn't wear and enjoy.

I would think it would be cheaper to buy a whole new clasp. The problem would be that the old clasp has the markings on it.

Very stylish, and I'm with Debora, a man could wear it.
You could try the solder, and ask them to add a safety chain.

One of my chunky Mexican silver bracelets had a broken clasp in the late 70s. It was soldered and is still going strong.

Yes, good idea to start with the less expensive solution.

I think the solder would work. I see there is a safety catch anyway, so that's what I would do.
    Let us know what happens!

Another option is to cut off the broken clasp and have a lobster clasp added.

So there is, I missed that. That certainly helps to secure it.

More and more im seeing men wearing 'womens' jewelry, especially pearls .Back in the late great 80s rhinestone brooches were all the rage, and I was there for it ! The rule in fashion these days is there are no rules. Wear it,enjoy it . I sure would, :)

A lot of men are wearing rhinestone pins for formal occasions instead of flowers. Pins don't wilt, and no one has to fly them to the USA from Columbia etc on a plane. If the bracelet fits, I'd say wear it. Try soldering the clasp first, and if it breaks again worry about it then.

Ok, I can tell you what I would do....have the clasp soldered and add a goldtone safety chain with spring rings on both ends. Secure the spring rings to opposing links.

Thanks all! I will have it soldered and hope it works, and yes there is a little safety catch on it already.

How old do you all think it is? It appears vintage but also really good condition! The jewelry person said 1970s but I always consult with everyone here!

    I'd think 1970s about right.
