Featured Silver Mark ID Please

    Hi all, please help me to identify the country of origin, age and maker of this silver figure of St Jacob J1.jpg IMG_20230627_193717.jpg .

    The 925 mark is a bit dark, but it looks like it could be 20th century Italian. Impressive piece, Mat.

    The scallop shell is often connected with pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Spain, and he does seem to be wearing them as badges.

    The mark looks like Æ, which apparently occurs in most western European languages.

    St. James (Santiago de Compostela) is usually associated w/ a scallop shell.Supposedly when his remains were discovered they were covered in scallop shells.

    Could it be German, too? Most .925 silver figures that one can find seem to be from there....
