Just got this but know nothing of it except it's beautiful and need some more help beyond the 'Finds thread', it seems, though I thank you Bakers! :)

    It's 7" x 3-3/4".
    Paper label reads either; 520 - 1 or 526 - 1.
Hand painted in 'gold' > "PERSIAN POTTERY" 'An exact replica of 17th Century Persian Art.'
    Whatcha know????

    Hi KoT,
It is very beautiful. Back in the 60s/70s a lot of "Persian" pieces were everywhere.
I bought several actually over 25 pieces. One piece was an original. My friend at the MET showed me the difference. I have to believe her since it looked the same as other pieces I had.

Not a heck of a lot, King, but I owe you one.

These are called wall pockets. You can find similar on eBay selling in the $10.00 range. This particular one would be my favorite. Really like the design and color. I would have paid more if I had a place to put it.

    Thank you.
I paid 4.99 plus tax and love it. :)
I did check eBidet but must've done something wrong the first time cause I didn't see any of these.... I may have to hunt down more. ;)

It says Made in Japan at the bottom, so what's all the excitement about?

KING, I'm really laughing. Otherwise I'd be banging my head one the wall. Problem with that is I might knock down and break my Persian Wall Pocket. Then yours would skyrocket in value being THE ONLY NEW PERSIAN WALL POCKET IN THE WORLD.

No kidding. I think you DO have the only one. Or at least Google, Bing, Amazon, Pier One, Home Goods, Alibaba and - believe it or not - PINTEREST have quickly hidden theirs.

Yeah! It might be a good idea to hang it up in a safe spot and come back in 2016 and try again.

Yeah, did anyone else notice that if you type in "Persian wall pocket" most places simply erase "Persian" before starting the search. Especially places like Amazon, Pier One, Alibaba.

HMMM! What would happen if you type "Iranian wall pocket?" Since I've been fired I can't try it.

Hi king - I like it. Have collected wall pockets for many years and never seen one like this. And it' s not in any of my wall pocket or MIJ books. At $4.99 I'd have swept it up in a heartbeat. Sadly, though, the wall pocket market is a buyer's market right now so hold onto it for a bit. You done good!

Good sleuthing QuirkyGirl! Nothing came up in the search engine for me. Also, how can you find the "sold" price for Etsy completed items?

    King,
I'll speculate that these "Persian replica" pieces were commissioned by a distributor and maybe once had a sticker. The answer is out there somewhere. It just might take a while. I would have snapped it up too.

I used to be able to find sold prices by right-clicking on the text portion of a sold listing and then click on view page source ... scroll down and it would be hidden in there. But, lately that 'hack' hasn't been working for me ....? So I've gone to http://www.flippertools.com/tools/etsySoldPrice/etsy-sold-price.htm :)
