I had posted this on the finds thread months ago. I got the painting at an estate sale. I took it to a restorer to be cleaned and have the frame stabilized. I got it back last week and thought you might like to see it :)

I have before photos but the exposures are not the same as the after photos, just know it was dirty and had a hazy finish.

I am very happy with the cleaning!!!!!!

PS Debora found this link to another water lily by the same artist:

Wow that turned out brilliant! I might have to do the same for a couple of older paintings I have. Thanks for the inspiration to do it!

A little bit of a lesson, isn't it? Not to overlook a piece just because it's become dim with age and grime.

Yep, I had a private tour of the house 6 months before, but one of the owners didn't want to let anything go, it was frustrating  Then all of a sudden a professional estate sale company was holding the sale. I checked out all the photos and they didn't show the painting, I was afraid it would not be there, but it was and I nabbed it!

I love the frame. It has some issues and the restorer doesn't have anyone to work on frames right now. I had them stabilize it so nothing else pops off. Later on, if they hire a frame specialist, I may bring it back to them.
