Picked this pair up for a fiver about a month ago and just got round to looking them up. I think they are epergnes. Things for nibbles. They have an EPNS mark on the base but nothing more regarding origin. I thought the birds, swallows I think would give a clue but nothing so far. Does anyone have an idea on manufacturer?

I don't know what "Things for nibbles." means?
Nor can I guess who made them, but I do like them! :)

Nibbles? Only if you eat flora. ;)

    Sometimes

So are epergnes for nibbles or flowers? Or aren't they epergnes and are vases?

Or maybe there are different types of epergne and these ones are specifically for flowers?

Nibbles means small bits of food such as nuts, raisins, olives etc..

An epergne is much larger than these, with a large central bowl and 4 or more arms with dishes to hold fruit or other "nibbles." These are a pair of vases. I would not want to try to get any food out of them. Besides, since they are totally vertical you would not see anything past the rims.

Thanks for the enlightenment. I was wondering how you got the last olive out the bottom. Trumpet vases maybe a better description then.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

The birds are a nice decoration on these. Good find!
