Hello everyone :) needing some precision on a little mystery piece I picked up in a boot sale in the UK last year - it's a reproduction of Chinese export wares but I'm not sure sure how to attribute a maker or dates- it's very like many attributed to Edme Samson ... but I think it possible that those attributions may be hopeful if not actively misleading.

Anyone out these with expertise in this area? I would love some more eyes on this one! Thanks for looking!

Ps weight is heavy - she's 497 g on a 24cm diameter so quite hefty.

    That screams Sansom to me.

Thank you! I have shown this to a few people who have all said it's a French reproduction - also I am a little dubious as to that sale being correctly attributed - the Chinese export wares of this type were 17th-18th century, hence why they were being copied in Paris in the 19th. So the attribution seems a little strange all around!

It is a very good match though I'm sure my plate is by the same maker / based on this design.

    Thank you!

I thought so too but then someone on a Facebook group I was trying out said no to that...I don't really know how to tell as I haven't seen any other examples. The Samson ones I've seen have been a little more ornate around the edge, scalloped, gadrooned, etc - though the rest of the decoration looks right.... it's not very French to have a plain plate edge ; )
