Featured What is this bowl made from?

    This 6" irregular black bowl looks organic to me, like someone used cutting tools to shape it. I don't think it's a gourd. Perhaps an animal part, though I kinda hate to imagine what.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Coconut?

    Edit: Just checked on google and that seems right, though not as much veining in yours as in some.

    I'd almost be thinking of a coconut shell, but definitely something organic.

    Some sort of plant matter or perhaps a lacquered Japanese bowl?

    I had a subtly triangular shape, so I'm thinking that probably verybrad's suggestion of coconut is right.

    I definitely think it has some age to it.
