Featured Unusual metal panel necklace

Or is it even a necklace?!
I have no clue about this and don’t even know where to start so any ideas would be very helpful.
Each panel is 1.25” long and there is no clasp.

Hmmmmm…. Any sign of what might have been the clasp? I’d suspect fold over. And I think that’s pre ww2.

Good idea but I don’t think it’s robust enough to be a belt. The links are quite fragile.

 

It doesn’t sit right for a belt either. I’ve seen necklaces a little like and there’s a name for the style which has left my brain.

 

So have I oddly enough. I'd add a little chain and a toggle clasp and wear it. It's not like you're replacing anything that's still there, and toggles are easy to get.

 

I’d wear it too, I like it. I might try and cannibalise or improvise a foldover. Toggle would work though.

 

I've done it before on other necklaces. As long as the metal is close it looks good and you don't have to worry about perfect fits.
