I'm so confused! Doll is signed on back "Germany, Mabel, 0" and nothing else. I'm seeing them listed as Armand Marseille in several places, but the info I read said they would be marked A.M. or Armand Marseille, and she is not. Any help appreciated. She has auburn brown hair, looks original, blue glass eyes that do not move, kid leather body, 20" high.

According to my Coleman's encyclopedia, AM did use the incised mark on some of their dolls.

As you can see the M is written differently. I don't have one, and I'm not sure of finding one at your local library, but a book on just AM's would help.

Just so that you are aware, AM's are plentiful.

Could have the AM under the leather at her back, but I wouldn't necessarily peal it off to check.

Peeling back the leather to check would be OK. Just be very careful. If nothing there, you can always reglue.

Unfortunately, dolls and have lost a lot of value over the years (with some exceptions of course). @judy is correct, there is a lot of them out there. It's just not something younger generations are interested in.
