Inherited painting

My in-laws left me this painting. I only know they got it in California over 50 years ago. It has Wolsey Co El Monte California stamped on the back of the frame. Anyone recognize the artist?

 

Remedios ? Can you take a pic of the back ? And get one of the front with a tad better lighting.

 

In the style of calif potter and painter Sascha Brastoff. i can not make out the signature to compare.

Love the piece & the handling of the pigment.Like a MCM Cave Painting-the painter IMHO quite good.
The frame's marked 'El Monte,CA' (just east of LA & south of Pasadena),you might shoot off some pics to MCM galleries down there. Query galleries in Santa Barbara,Carmel,Monterey,Pacific Grove,SF too.
Maybe one of our forensic camera pros can decipher that wonderful messy spirited signature.I'm not part of the horsie set,but i'd hang that.
PS-Look for more marks on the frame/canvas (faint pencil)-use a strong light source.

 

From Collectors Weekly 'Show and Tell': "My mother was the Advertising Manager for Wolsey company for many years. The company closed in about the mid-90's. They had a big store/warehouse in City of Industry and sold art supplies and frames, etc to stores like Michael's."
