I recently was giving this thingy...I don't know what it is, or if the top is even made for it. Dresden is stamped on the top, there are no markings on the bottom part. What is this thing and is it authentic?! IMG_0580[1].JPG IMG_0579[1].JPG IMG_0586.JPG IMG_0584.JPG

Maybe it's a spit bowl for wine tasting. Do such things exist?

Let's try again (apparently my first post didn't take.)

If I saw the bottom part by itself I would think "biscuit barrel". But since you didn't given dimensions, that might be way off. The "top" looks like it belongs to something else entirely, even though both parts appear to have the same pink flower decoration.

What does the top look like turned over (I can't really tell from the close up.) Does it actually fit?

    Great questions, Bakersgma.

I'm wondering if the top part with the small (too small???) hole is part of a "hair receiver."

If the same floral decoration is on the other side of the "top" part, I think it may be turned upside down in the photo and the curved lip would fit into the edge of the "receiver."

If it is the top to a "hair receiver" I can't imagine it having that larger, handled, bottom (bucket-looking thing) as where that hair would be received/"stored."

Thanks guys! I'm searching Dresden chamber pots, but nothing is coming up. Nothing at all...if it's reall Dresden it's worth a bit. Dimensions are 11" tall 11" in diameter.

Chamber pots are not the same as slop buckets. Slop buckets are where used soapy washing water got disposed of and where you would spit after washing your teeth. (and you probably know what goes into a chamber pot ;) ) I've never come across one with the intact insert ... it certainly resembles a little porcelain sink, doesn't it?

I don't think there was a company named Dresden, but more than one used it in their mark. None of the known marks are scratched in like that. You might find a matching pitcher, basin, etc., but you need a good picture from the side.

I actually have a matching bowl in a box...I'll update thread with better pics when I find it.
