    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

Maybe it's something other than L. Thomas?
Just brainstorming... Lt. Names? L. T. Nomes? Namer?
    Okay, I'm really reaching!
    1970?

    Maybe....
If that is a sign in the center what is on it ?

Would there have been an illuminated sign (bill board type?) at that early date?

If actually 1870 no because Edison himself opened the first NYC plant about 1882.
Could still have been a brightly painted sign.

Regardless of when or where, I am having serious trouble with this scene. Where is the light source (regardless of type) that is illuminating the exterior building walls when it is clear that from the red sky that a sunset or sunrise is happening behind the city? And enough light that it creates such clear reflections in the water? Not particularly professional IMHO.

    You are absolutely correct Bakers...
'Artistic license' that should be revoked. :)

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

    Hey!
Anyway, for me, the scene falls together better if we think "1970".

Are we *sure* that it is dated 1870 - it kind of looks like 1970 to me.

100% not 1872. Look at the architecture.

The back of the frame's stretcher bars also appear to be 1970s vintage.

I'd say 1970 for sure. The buildings are all post-WWII towers, not Victorian.

I'm pretty sure this is 1970. The canvas isn't old canvas that would have been used in the 1870s. The canvas is tight and white. Old canvas is course and darker and ages in brown tones.
