    Hello all! So happy I won these, eBay is a disease I swear! 6 euros pp though, who was I to say no?

    I just thought these were so pretty. The enamel is in near perfect condition (tiny bit missing maybe, needs a clean first).

    Brass and enamel, can't find one like this. Closest one was russian cloisonne. Date wise....just after AN? Seems too on the nose to be of the period perhaps, not stylized enough? They started getting popular in the early 1910s according to wikipedia. What's the bone material? Bone, ivory, or celluloid? There's some sticky stuff on it, it comes right off.

    This one was advertised as silver, possible amber, and gold. I was reading that amber was used on men's cigar holders from the edwardian period until the 20s. Is this amber? There's two hallmarks, just gotta look into them. The seller says its the eagle so 18k. I'll check to make sure. From the photo it looks like also a boars head, so 800 silver perhaps? And what are we thinking date wise?

    Two beauties, Rachel.:happy: And if you want them to be jewellery, they are.:smuggrin:
    I don't know, who were you?:confused::joyful:
    Of course you bought them!:)
    Ivory. I wonder if that one is Indian, they also make some very nice cloisonné.
    I agree, and likely amber, butterscotch amber.:)

    Woot woot! :woot: I'm surprised no one else was interested in them honestly, I was the only bidder and only one other was even watching it. I forgot to mention the amber one came in its own little box with the manufacturer's name, so I'll do some digging.

    I do wish it was healthier to do, I'd let these beauties have some use again! Perhaps some cigarette candy?

    I love cigarette holders! So much care went into them. I bought a trio of the from Europe on eBay once. Got ‘Em cheap, took literally a few months for the to arrive I think. I was very patient but after like ten weeks or something I made the seller refund me and promised if they arrived I’d send him the money back. He sent them without tracking, or at least tracking that eBay accepted, I don’t recall. They did eventually arrive and I did send him the money. Mine were similar to yours with gold bands, silver, and the amber mouth pieces. I don’t think I realized the amber was potentially real at the time. I figured it was Bakelite or something. I wound up selling them but didn’t get a ton. I got probably 3-4x what I paid but they seemed undervalued to me for how nice they were. I guess they made so many that the demand isn’t very high. Very nice things though.

    Those are really beautiful!!! I'm not surprised you were the only bidder though... Smoking is quite out of fashion. I do have one friend who smokes, who had a more modern one of these she used to use in clubs...she would have loved these ha. There would probably be buyers who would use these if they were marketed to the right "scenes."

    True, although there are still collectors of this nice quality tobacconalia.

    I still have my great-grandfather's amber and silver cheroot holder. It is in a fitted case with his name.
    He had several amber cheroot holders, I sold the other ones, but this one has too much sentimental value.

    Yes I would have thought there would be more of a collectors market, some of them are stunning. I did a little research on the Mathiss company that is on the amber's box, most listings describe them as turn of the century/early 20th but there's no formal article I can find on the company. Shame!

    It sure fits it nicely. From sellers' listings they all describe the same gold rim and similar materials as well. Let me see if I can find some
