Featured Thoughts on Oil on Canvas

Hi-
Found this oil on Canvas. Frame measures 34" by 23". Signed at lower right Hilary and '71. Two business cards stuck in the back identify Hilary as A.H. Budinger and the picture as "Henry's Boy" priced $250. Can't find any reference to Hilary or A.H. Budinger save for the fact that Alan Harvey Budinger (1916-1990) was the father of Miss Vicky (Budinger) who married the novelty pop star Tiny Tim on the Tonight Show in 1969. In an article about her, I found a mention of her father as a dealer in art supplies and sometime painter. Not very auspicious credentials for an artist's resume. Any thoughts on how to market this picture? I think the painting is interesting and that it would appeal to some with the patriotic/emotional theme, the racial aspect, the Vietnam War reference, etc. What do you folks think? Thanks for your consideration.

I did find it strange that "Henry" would have a nurse (in fact midwife) by his side while grieving for his son. There is nothing to suggest he needed a nurse.

 

It could be his wife, who works as a midwife

 

He looks very poor. I'm sure a midwife isn't paid as much as she should be, but I think a midwife's husband wouldn't have to wear such torn clothing.

 

Wow! That photo is extraordinary. Looks to me like "Hilary" plagiarized that very picture and put his own spin on it to fit the circumstances he wanted to depict. That's so fascinating about the midwife. Thanks for the excellent sleuthing. You never know where it will take you. Can anyone read the signature on the midwife's picture?

Not me. It looks like a 3 part name. First I thought it started with Peter, but it looks like 6 letters. Second seems to start with an M and the 3rd to me looks like Sam.
