The doll looks as if she's been both rewigged and redressed. (In the 1980s.)

Looked like a Sheffield mark on the tea set. BINGO! Value Village actually gave good value that day.
Here I don't even bother driving that far. They're called Savers here when the name should be $penders - anything good is overpriced. If you can find anything good.

My find of the day was a 70g silver necklace made to look like Native American beads for USD$2. No idea if it really is or not, but for almost $50 in silver I wasn't quibbling. It rode home in an olive wood dish that cost $1, in a bag with a Royal Doulton wedding figurine for $3. The last one will probably get passed along to my pastor for redistribution. He tends to get tapped for a fair number of weddings.

Canadian? Even better - hometown cachet and it's rarer.

Would guess Native American stuff is intriguing to international travelers. A lot gets bought by American travelers not exposed to the cultures in their everyday lives as well. A trip to the Southwest from the East coast is a big deal for many Americans and many will never make the trip in their lifetime.

I used to visit the SW USA a fair bit, so yes, I brought back all sorts of bits. One lovely piece of art pottery travelled all the way from LA on Himself's lap.

Some things to show. All thrift store items.

This small glass jar is marked Krys-Tol and is from the early 20th century. Not sure of the purpose. It doesn't seem to be missing a top, as the edge is quite rounded. Bought for $2.00.

This sculptural glass knot was $3.00.
    thriftglass46.jpg

This sterling handled cake breaker was $2.50. Mark is poorly struck. Any ideas? Pattern? thriftsilver3.jpg
    thriftsilver3a.jpg

This is a large unusual Hoosier type flour jar. No marks. Sneath? Bought for $3.00.
    thriftglass47.jpg

    More to show.....

Pair of Mohawk baskets with tags. First is a bit larger than the second. Had to pay a lot for these..... $14.00 for the pair..... LOL! Can not find anything on the first maker. Second appears to be from a large family of basket makers.

Small pitcher in the Libbey Autumn Leaves pattern. Was $2.00.

Cocktail pitcher from Pukeberg Glasbruk, Sweden. Bought for $3.00.

Mentioned these earrings on the thread about finding valuable things. Silver clip-on earrings by Steve vaubel. If you are not familiar with this maker, it is worth having a look at their website. Only hand inscribed with Vaubel and a date. Bought on a whim for a $1.00.

I know..... I was joking ;) For many who shop thrift stores around here, $14.00 is a fortune.

Around here they wouldn't make it to the floor.(sigh) The Vaubel earrings... wonder what they'd think of the retail prices on those? It's not a brand I"m familiar with, but they're new. Something to look out for.

Well of course it did. I know at least one small piece went to southern France in a friend's suitcase. She was born in Romania, came to school in the USA, and eventually ended up working in France. She got to make that trip of a lifetime but came here to my church afterward. Bought no souvenirs - all the stuff made on site was really expensive. The ones she could afford were made in China. I had a small piece in my hoard that was real, and it went home with her.

The floor vase I just picked up would probably be over 150 new, but was 13 at the thrift. Still my husband jokingly said "oh that's so expensive!" :hilarious:

I told him the $8 impressionist painting made up for it. :joyful:

Today's find, plus the faux Navajo necklace from Tuesday and one I randomly found sitting here. The candlestick is 95g (the number in rant/rave was my brain and fingers farting). No marks and how the HECK it was sitting on a shelf in the Ill Will at 11AM I have no clue. $1 - not kidding. First silver I've found there since 2019. The necklace made of probable faux Navajo pearls, the stampings are too even to be hand done, cost $2. The last one was $6 in a thrift. It's freshwater pearl, crystals and a big honkin' amethyst pendant. I tested it to be sure.

As I suspected a slate and marble American Ansonia mantle clock dated 1881, its all there including the key, I just have to get it going.
