Is this a real Escher?

Found this glass paperweight in a small shop and saw a signature on it. But i doubt that i am so lucky to find a real piece of Escher. So my question is, is this a genuine period signed Escher or a cheap repro from a museum?

 

I doubt it. Someone has taken an Escher pattern and etched it into glass. I think it's more of a homage thing.

 

Escher didn't work in glass. But the trademark web site does sell a paperweight with that design.
