Featured Ozark Roadside Tourist Pot

At 14.5" tall this is the biggest one of these I've ever seen.

It's "as-is" because a couple of hairline cracks, but they don't extend to the rim or foot-- just in the side. (That's also why it was still available on the last day of a 3-day sale-- and 50% off-- so $14 .) There's a thin rubber pad glued to the bottom.

There seems to be some sort of structural element on the inside as in picture #4. Does anyone know how these larger pieces were put together? Is it in fact a reinforcement of some kind?

Don't think it is a reinforcement. These were decorated on a turntable with a slip-like thick paint. I think you are seeing where the white interior paint has slumped a bit.

Nice pot but too bad about the crack. Price was right. I have three 16" versions. Think there might even be some 20 inchers out there.

Good read! Never knew that it was produced outside the Ozarks. I pick it up when I can. Even have a rare, albeit sun-faded, birdbath.

 

Yeah-- good read. Thanks. I've had a couple others of these and they sold quickly at my antique mall. Hopefully this one will too, despite the damage.

 

I have one somewhere. I will take a pic if i can find it.
