In the great order of dodgy looking ugly plastic necklaces this one is well up there at a 9 out of 10!
However, that aside, it’s asking a few questions such as……
How old? At first I thought it was modern plastic but the more I look the more I think it has some age to it. The length is 15” so pretty short but could have lost links through its life.
The clasp isn’t one I’ve seen before, it’s just folded metal that springs shut when the ring is through. The only identical one I can find is on this listing that says Czech/Neiger but this doesn’t look like the norm for either but one or both could be a marriage?
The plastic leaves are all identical but slightly different twists to them as if moulded when still warm. The links are all plastic too. Hmm, any thoughts please :)
    Thankyou x

How autumnal! Think it could be quite attractive worn with a round neck sweater of an appropriate color.

Necklace doesn't have to be by Neiger to be the same vintage. Probably neither maker made their own clasps & other findings.

Quite possibly you are right and I should be more charitable to it!

    True.
So if they are contemporary, around 1930 do you think?

I think that's a celluloid chain, so that's about right.

I didn’t think of celluloid, of course :banghead:
Thankyou both. Very interesting. I’m glad I listened to it when it shouted to be rescued out of the tray of children’s beads!.

I found a cherry prystal bakelite necklace that way once. It was just old plastic after all. Paid the lady a lot more than she was thinking for the bits I rescued from the jewelry someone donated for kiddie crafts.

Celluloid chain and molded plastic leaves; wouldn't be surprised if still in manufacture through WWII. I've seen that clasp with celluloid several times.
