Featured Seeking Info on Antique Chairs

Hello,

These 2 full size hall chairs have been in our family for over 50 years. Our parents have since passed and I am trying to identify them. No mfg names underneath.

I can get measurements at a later date, for they have been moved into storage. Thank you.

 

Very nice, seccond half of the 19th century, but others will narrow that down more.
I wonder if the boar's head has to do with a family crest. Which part of the world are they in/from?

 

Very nice! They are Hall chairs, for show, not comfort. The boar head is traditionally Gordon's device, so I would guess Scottish or of such descent, but from a big old house anyway.

 

If it's Scottish, Clan Campbell has a similar Boar's Head Crest but not pointed upwards. Perhaps the in-fill is a later addition but it looks to be in the same wood.

The Booth Coat of Arms has the erect boars head.
