This was only about $2 and signed :) But looking at the light switch would this maybe 60’s? (Just my guess) Thank you for any comments and keep well

Thanks. I appreciate you comments. You are right, some are being described as cameo lamps. Some of the other designs I see online are also really very cool. If you have a collection of these they must look amazing together when lit up.

An excellent comment/observation,thank you! I did for a moment think that looks a erupting volcano but never made any connection with Pompei. The scene must be it then, how interesting.

Think that's a bit later than 1940s. That switch looks 1960s to me and that's the beginning of mass tourism.

Bay of Naples with Vesuvius in the background. Not sure who the duo are; not sure cutter was either. Best guess Athena in foreground with Aphrodite behind. Popular Neapolitan souvenir.

The base is quite modern compared to the metal tripods I'm used to seeing with Sirens at the top of legs ending in goat's feet. I agree with a 1950s/60s time frame.

I have a couple of helmet shells that have been engraved & had the spire removed to make them ready to be lampshades. I am, alas, sans the lamp bases. I have also one with Diana hunting that is mounted on a little pedestal for display, as well as a whole shell that has been decorated but otherwise left intact.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Very nice! I hope you find a place to use it. I have one of the carved shells that are still being made today. I believe mine is from the 1960s. Have never seen a lamp before!
