Things to go on my wrist lately. Rootbeer bakelite, I think, clamper. And a rather odd very well made stretch one which sort of feels sixties. The cha cha one is also VERY well made and those dangles are glass.

That one came from a bloke who my lovely car boot friend got to first, so she sniffed the gold earrings! I don't mind, she has to make a living: and she also pointed me at a rather splendid lucite lamp base.

I paid too much for the blue one. Lovely seller and she and I both loathe the rapacious woman who was also sniffing round it.

The stretch bracelet is fun, what unusual construction.
    Are the white beads glass?
It’s amusing when you bump into the same buyers time after time, and surprising how much you can learn about them just by their body language.
There is an old boy that seems to magnetise to me, he is EVERYWHERE! In a car boot of several thousand people, he pops up next to me, Charity shop? He’s there….. random charity shop miles from home in a strange town that I only went into to waste time before an appointment, yep, there he is! It’s like having a stalker
There are a few sellers I won’t go near either, top of the list is Mr High End Wristwatch seller who is so smarmy and boot licking to his potential customers :yuck:

My turn. Mostly a friendly crowd of buyers where I live, they all have their areas of collecting and personalities, and sometimes grab something I wish I got to first, but one guy is truly smarmy. He's a bitter and curt behind the scenes, but when he's chatting up a potential seller he's ...Mr. Congenial. Your new best friend. What could be worse? Then he will BRAG about this or that. Thank goodness he doesn't seem to know jewelry.

    Keeps it interesting.

Love the bracelets. That navy blue one is very wearable. Guessing that might be a keeper?

I don't know what the root beer clamper is made from, but I'd be hoping bakelite too. Sometimes the inside texture/finish gives the game away, but that's usually reserved for opaque pieces.

I know what you mean about smarmy people. There's one couple who keeps showing up. She's always looking for gold and he wants mostly records. Neither thinks I earn my oxygen. There are a whole group of us who are regulars at these things. Some are after the same things and some not. One guy is a silver hoarder, and asks me to backstop him and make sure what he picks out is silver. (I can see the marks.) The two I mentioned above make the false smiley faces at the estate and tag sale runners, but then try to get a $400 bracelet for $4 instead of the $10 the seller wanted.

The stretch looks like it has been "altered" with the golden cords wrapped in rust thread at the ends? Is it actually wrist size? It reminds me of vintage expansion purse tops.

I think the rootbeer is plastic. See images at top of page for similar one:

The gold butterfly and elephant charm bracelet is newer but fun! The thermoplastic blue bracelet is sure 1950-1960s!

That's what I thought, I remember those from back in the day. Perspex/lucite probably.

OTOH I'm seeing some of the swirlies in it that would be present in bakelite. I wouldn't be too surprised either way, really.

I need to get my simichrome out. It’s got age, looking at the fitments.

the stretch one is definitely a bracelet and I think the cord is original. Glass beads made like two globes with a groove, very clever.

I’ve just found a tag on the cha cha, I’ll post a photo in a bit.

the lovely seller who sold me the thermoplastic also sold me what may well be a Jakob Bengel on Sunday. She’d saved it for me, it slightly reminded her of the blue.

Yeah, there’s a weird hive mind gestalt community of buyers, isn’t there. Most of the ones I know are decent. There’s the one rapacious bloody woman who sells at stupid prices and a couple of blokes who think they’re clever and walk straight past the bits I grab. Hah.
