I know this is a Sevres style mark,I know its not "old-old" but darned if I can find it and google image was no help ! I was strolling thru hoodwill, spotted one of them, picked it up and thought it pretty (but Ive got closets full of pretty!) set it down and in the next aisle saw the other one. Since Im a sucker for a pair of anything, here they sit. 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 . Any input woulld be gratefully received.
The shape is new to me, what are they supposed to be? A small flower pot? The handles at the base is what is confusing me a little.
The shape is called campana which means "bell-shaped." I think they are vases, possibly part of a garniture. (Campana meaning courtesy of my 84 year old mom's Italian classes in college.)
Well, 20th c IMHO because the info on the base is in English. Imitation crossed "Ls" mark nodding to Sevres style.
Thanks all. I felt they were too thick to be "quality" but they are pretty enough for $4 . I even wondered if they might have held cigarettes .
