    I picked this up on my dinner break today. I first thought it to be American as it has 'Sterling' stamped into the collar and a patent mark on it. The hall mark inside strikes me as being English though. There is also a makers mark along side the hall mark.

    I found this bottle on page 12 of "The Perfume Atomizer An Object of Atmosphere" by Tirza True Latimer.

    She described it as an "early 20th century English atomizer of cut-crystal with sterling silver mounts decorated in enamel".

    You would operate it by raising that center knob & then pushing it down.

    That may be its patent number on the side.

    I would think the operative part was silver-plated & has obviously been polished to death. :nailbiting::nailbiting:

    Pretty little bottle!! :happy::happy:

    @charlie cheswick is correct. It will be much happier when you get it all shined up pretty. :smug::smug:

    Yeah. It was in the cabinet. I was surprised when I turned it over and saw £5 on the base.

    I thought it would be impossible to photograph as the hall mark is actually inside the collar. It just focussed straight on it though, even with my wobbly hands.

    Sadly, the guilloche is damaged. You just can't tell from that angle. The spring is gone in the plunger too. I can't fathom a way of replacing it either. The bottom screws off the housing but there seems to be an internal insert too which retained the spring and can't be removed. Prob soldered in place. Fab info. Thanks. I found a similar one on eBay. Much better condition than mine. Very similar patent number. I've often been tempted to buy some of that silver plating solution used to restore jaded items. I never could quite justify shelling out the money, but in this case I think it would be worth it.
