This weekend's finds. Really hitting a quiet patch on the jewelry front, hoping that changes soon. Until then, I've got some nice bits of costume I can share.

Unmarked nice costume, bought in a lot so less than 2 euros. Missing a couple stones.

Got these pearls at a vide grenier yesterday, 1 euro! All real, when hung over the neck it reaches my hips.

And this was this morning's find, a set of enamel pots in near perfect condition for 5 euros the set. Its marked Yugoslavia so they're not new. Great addition to my kitchenware collection!

If I go, it's bound to be junk. If I stay home, the next week I hear about someone else's score from another person who went to the sale. Never fails.

You are so right! She was a nice lady not knowing where to go for help. I told her which things to put on Craig's list, which for a consignment shop, which to send to the Habitat for Humanity Restore and which for a thrift store donation. She was very grateful for the help :)

That was so kind of you after going through that drive to disappointment. Hopefully she uses your advice!

I would be happy if good Karma sent 25 boxes of Depression glass my way

I wouldn't be able to pick it up. 25 boxes of jewelry...I'd be careful and split it up!

FINALLY got something this weekend. The whole-street sale was almost a total bust. I found a stone bracelet to break up and bought lemonade from a kid. Beforehand I found another sale advertised as starting earlier. Spent $5, and then hit a house that a guy was cleaning out and flipping. Not advertised. Spent $35. On the way home was a moving sale - Soviet-era Russian hallmarks, Siberian jade earrings, probable horn cicada etc... $20 for the pile. The person I expected to have to fight for everything must have gone elsewhere, because she's looking for gold and jade. The cameo is in a 9k setting of no great greatness, but I wasn't arguing.

They couple were some of those late 80s Russian Jewish immigrants. We got a bunch. The jewelry was stuff she probably brought along and was sick of. I only wish the cicada was imperial amber, but no such luck. Oh. Well.

A bug and a snake!!! That cicada is to die for. And the universe rewarded you for buying that lemonade. I believe when you give, you receive. I participated in an online auction, it was a disaster, they charged a buyers premium (was expected), shipping was a tad up there, but the $7.50 handling fee sent me over the edge. Photos tomorrow....and wait until you see what we have in common.

A buyer's premium AND a handling fee? Somebody gettin' greedy up in there.

Yes, buyers fee of about $7, shipping for two pins $10.99 (sent USPS flat rate boxed), "handling"$7.50. I could have driven 40 miles to pick it up. I like what I got, but never again with this company. I missed out on a 14k past present future diamond ring by $10, went for $380. Got these two Watson sterling brooches. They were only $34, but the fees whacked them up. I do love the cicada.

They're cute, but at that price it would have been a hard pass from me, given the crazy fees they tacked on.

Yeah, the shipping and handling were a surprise.

That's one of the things eBoo has going for it - shipping is spelled out up front. Most auction houses do have it in the fine print somewhere, but watch out of for "ranges".

I'm up to my stupid tricks again: bicycling the Oregon Coast and being unable to stay out of antique stores:
