Featured 10" Unmarked Silver Berry Serving Spoon?

    I guess everyone is stumped as I am. Found many similar spoons, but none with the repousse bowl pattern or the laurel medallion at the tip. Most are marked, this one not. Probs silver plate. I will have it tested to be sure. It came with a lot that included some very old silver (1850s) and newer stuff was from 1910-1950s.

    Is it heavier than you might expect? Suspect it is mid to late 19th century English silverplate, and some were brass base, making them pretty weighty. Similar fruit/berry spoons were often sold in pairs or in sets with other pieces like sugar sifters, butter knives, etc. - can look through some period ads and catalogs in a bit, but finding an exact match may be near impossible. Unlikely to be silver, but XRF testing wouldn't hurt...

    I agree most likely silverplate. Not super heavy. A lot small use knicks with no brass showing through.

    No luck in finding the pattern or even particularly close, not surprising given the numerous variety produced - would guess circa 1870s-'80s...
