    Dear All,

I have been digging my back garden and found suspicious object. It’s 4inches tall round (top), 3inches wide at the bottom, very heavy around 4pounds, 100% metal. I thought might be a bomb but it is not as checked with local police.
When checked on google scanner came up with a bomb (German Grenade).

Does anyone know what it is? Object is sealed that’s why made me think that is suspicious. House is over 110years old.

Looks like the base for an old tubular clothesline pole.

The volume of the object is approximately 38.5 cubic in (using 4" height and 1.75" radius). Typical concrete weighs 150 lbs/cubic ft., or 0.0868 lbs/cubic in. 38.5 x .0868 = 3.3418 lbs. Add the additional weight of the metal jacket and dirt, and you might end up with the approximate weight of 4 lbs, which might indicate it is a can or tube filled with concrete.

I found a few of those "Objects" around my house. Back in the day people would just pour concrete into cans/containers to anchor items in their yard (as stated above). The two I found/dug up, were anchoring a cast iron boot scraper by the back porch door.
