Need help on a new glass ware

I just bought a group of pipes. And of the piece has very complicated designed.

I have BS in Chemistry, and to my understanding part of the design is for condensation, and distillation.

please check the photo could any tell me the name/function of this instrument ?

 

some similar say ash catchers........ but I can't confirm that ....

 

If you can take your photos on a black background we might have better luck using google lens. There are too many reflections and distractions. Do it with the same orientation as your second photo - it shows the structure most clearly.

 

It looks like an elaborate bong to me.
