Featured Are these Beads Coral? Trade (ish) Bead Neckalce

Found another couple of trade bead necklaces. The one with the 'coral' I think was a mistake because on closer inspection I think they're pretty modern/not really trade beads.

My question though is the coral. The other beads are all glass, bone, or I think some kind of nut or seed? On that modern opaque plastic 'wire'. I tried acetone for 30 seconds (held or rubbed), and didn't get any color off. The grain looks odd to me, like its been polished to look like a coral grain. The beads are cooler than room temperature but not cold, does not clink like glass but isn't thuddy like plastic.

Also for fun, here's the other necklace I found! The older, bigger beads are ceramic (I think), small black ones and possibly the blue are glass, they've been put on a bunch of plastic spacers etc.

Yep I thought it was suspicious. Also weird coral would be included on this otherwise not special necklace, unless it was somebody's melange so I had to check. Thanks AJ!

 

True, you wouldn't expect it, but always good to check.

 

The 'grain' on the not-coral looks like scrapes/scratches.

 

It's glass. The second necklace is powder glass or recycled glass.

Yes, I was just thinking that. But would you really do it right there if you thought there was a chance it could be coral? Bubble is another explanation.
