BK & co Gold Thimble

A 14k gold thimble in a small box with Bigelow Kennard & CO Boston written on it. Thimble has a engraved name and the number 8 on the other side. (which I assume is the size). Inside on the bottom is a 14k mark and a makers mark that I can't get a picture of. Can barely see it with a loupe. The box is leather on the outside and the red velvet or felt on the inside.
Is this something they would have made in house or would it have been made by someone else and just sold under the BK banner? Really can't find any other examples online.

 

If you haven't already tried it, I've gotten good photos of tiny things by putting my loupe/magnification over the phone camera lens.

 

Tried to get a picture using the loupe, blocks all the light due to the thimble being so small. Mark is a shield of some kind. I'll just keep looking online to see if I can find it. Thanks.

Yes, You nailed it. Only difference is that mine doesn't have the "A" or the "31" at the top but the rest is the same. How did you know Columbo? Why did you think Simons Bros? Were they the official supplier of thimbles to BK & Co? Either way, I appreciate it. Puts that to bed.

 

Simons Bros co was a common maker of thimbles. I have had several over the years.
