I don't think this looks particularly old, but I can't seem to find others like it.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

5" (13cm) x 2.5" (6.5cm); found in an antique mall in Oregon, USA

Its Korean, you should be able to find the signature in this file... Signatures.... however, It is not an artist I personally collect which means it is likely not very valuable. Regards

Not very valuable........ so does that mean it is valuable , just not highly valuable , like the items you collect ..?

Last week walking the streets of Insa-dong where there are a bevy of ceramic shops...I ignored most shops. These shops sold almost exclusively ceramics meant to tempt a tourist with bright colors, a small price, and can fit into a suit case.

Of course these have a value. It is just not a value that is likely to go up nor a value that will ever reach several thousand dollars.

The photo in my profile is of a work that takes the artist over a month to complete. Further, it is an artist that has been recognized as a Korean Master. It came complete with a wooden box. I had dinner with this artist two weeks ago. It is true I collect works of this league. However, it is also true that I don't always have to buy at a high price. I scour the internet for auctions and sellers who are simply trying to get rid of their parents effects.

We are an antiques forum. That means our focus is on antiques, so 100+ years old, and many of us are collectors with some excellent antique pieces.

However, that doesn't mean we turn up our noses at recent or humble items people have queries about. We try to help with the knowledge we have, in the realisation that not everyone is a collector and not everyone has deep pockets. We respect that some of our members buy these items to sell in order to make a living or supplement a small income.

And we enjoy a show and tell of interesting items, whether old or new.:)
