How do you know that it is Natural? Have you tested it and it looks like it was tumbled. Price for 1/2 pound..... https://www.etsy.com/listing/765753...2fac92702c%3A765753541&organic_search_click=1

the seller claimed it is natural. I didn't test it. By tumbling, it is only polishes the surface, not chemically modify it, correct?

Test it....put a very small drop of water on a flat surface and see what happens.

What type of test kit do you use? We have all the silver/gold/platinum kits but I didn't realize there was one for stones?

I know that turquoise will sink but what will a drop of water do? Does water absorb or is it if you wipe it off, blue will come off like in howlite? I thought you had to use acetone?

Untreated turquoise will absorb water. Stabilised turquoise is usually treated with acrylic, in which case the stone won't absorb water.
A lot of turquoise is stabilised, for strength. The acrylic often contains dye as well.

In the past turquoise was stabilised using fat, either sheep fat or beeswax, depending on the origin.

Thank you! That makes sense. We have used acetone to see if the color comes off but I hate using something so abrasive so we will give water a shot!!!!

    Acetone isn't abrasive...it is a solvent.
